Makeup Revolution Fortune Favours The Brave Palette

So this palette is a little bit old in the beauty blogging world and I have finally decided to write about it!

This palette is a collaboration between British Beauty Blogger and Makeup Revolution. The packaging is beautiful and the there is a selection of 30 different eye shadows. The packaging is lovely and stands out from all of the usual black packaging that we see makeup revolution use. The shadow pans are quite small but you still get a lot for how many shades are on offer here.

This is pretty much the perfect palette it has everything you need from soft everyday colours to more adventurous shades and the perfect smokey eye shades. There's a great range of baked, matte and shimmer formulas.

There are a few shades that are not quite as pigmented as I hoped. The peachy shade on the top row third along, is one of the most disappointing shades. There was no colour pigmentation and I had to work really hard to get it to work for me.

Some of the green shades are less then impressive along with the lighter matte colours, all in all it was a little disheartening as they colours I would naturally gravitate towards were some of the worst performers in the palette!

Even with the own falls of a few shades in here I mostly think that this could be a great shadow palette for a beginner or someone new to makeup as it gives you a lot for your money that you can play around with.

Tatul - Tattoo Brightening System*

Tatul is a hand held tattoo brightening tool. When I was first contacted about Tatul, I honestly thought it was a bit of a gimmick and asked loads of questions about what it actually is. In its simplest form Tatul is a hand held device that exfoliates the top layer of dead skin at the same time as vacuuming it away.

Tatul comes with two exfoliating heads that attach to the machine, it really is as simple as switching it on and away you go. It takes minutes to exfoliate the skin and you use the supplied serum (basically vitamin E) to hydrate the skin afterwards.

Before -

After -

You can see that this really helped to remove the dead skin cells and just made the tattoo appear brighter. This worked really well on my colour tattoos you can watch a video of me using Tatul here

I will say that I didnt like this at first, I didnt see much difference but now I know what speed setting and what attachment head works better for my skin I really do think I will continue to use this.

I wouldnt reccomend using Taul too often as you dont want to constantly exfoliate your tatto and cause premature fading, however this is a safe way to brighten up your tattoo without the need to go back under a tattoo needle!!

Pommade Divine - 1 year on

So around this time last year I posted about the dramatic difference that using Pommade Divine had on my eczema in just two weeks.

I have now been using this miracle balm for a year and I can honestly say it is one beauty product I will not be without. While in the short term Pommade Divine really calmed down my eczema and soothed the skin with continued use I have seen real healing and long lasting results.

After One Year

After one year use of this balm my skin is largely clear. There are small remains of eczema and some light scarring from scratching my skin raw but you would never tell how bad my skin once was.

Pommade Divine contains a lot of natural ingredients that promote natural healing in the skin, the main moisturise properties come from Shea butter and lanolin (so this makes it unsuitable for vegans) then there are lots of natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients like cinnamon, benzoin and nutmeg.

Because of the nature of the balm you will find a slight residue almost like a second skin layer when you apply this but it does soak in! If you find it doesn't sink in, use less of the balm next time you apply. You also may find this stings due to the anti-bacterial properties especially if your skin is open and sore but stay with it because the benefits are enormous! There is also a scent to the balm, it smells like Christmas candles because if the cinnamon but it is very subtle and natural, it is not an artificial perfumed smell.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask! You can ask me on Twitter @kerri_jane for a quick reply!

MUA Single Eyeshadow - Champagne

When you become borderline highlighter obsessed and then your Mary Lou-Manizer breaks there is only one thing to do, break out what could possibly be one of the best cheap highlighters out there!

Ok so yes, this technically is an eyeshadow, but at £1 it really is a brilliant highlighter. The shade is just right and gives the best amount of subtle glow without being overly shimmery or glitter based. It's very subtle, which I love as I'm not into a heavy makeup look, but can easily be built up.

I really love everything about this from the shade to how easy it is to blend. It's also very versatile you can use this as a highlighter but I also like to use this as my main eyeshadow with some winged liner and it looks great.

Also MUA is a cruelty free brand so for all those against animal cruelty and try to shop brands that don't test on animals this is one you can use!

Barry M Showgirl Mascara Review

I am a huge mascara fan and I love a good mascara that can help to volumise my lashes and give them a real oomph! The Barry M showgirl mascara is perfect for this.

The packaging on this is beautiful the pink mirrored tube and the stars on the lid, it's all so girly and actually looks more expensive then it is.

The brush is pretty standard
It's your typical mascara brush not these plastic bristle types and is tapered at one end.

I find this mascara is really great at giving volume to the roots my lashes and finds that it fans them out quite well so I often look like I have more lashes then I actually do. It is the first mascara in a long time I have used and gone 'oooh that's so good'

What are your favourite mascaras?

Barry M are cruelty free and against animal testing.

Gosh Defining Brow Gel Shade 003 - Cruelty Free

Doing my eyebrows is both a necessity for me as well as a makeup step I never have the time for or the patience for.

My brows are quite bold and long naturally however after a bad threading experience a few years back I have bald patches in my eyebrows. These bald patches are pretty obvious when I do nothing with my brows (which is most of the time)

However when I found out that Gosh did an eyebrow gel that would be the perfect colour for my brows I decided I had to go and buy it.

Shade 003 in the defining brow gel is a brown/grey shade which is perfect for me. My brows lean in the dark grey side so this blends perfectly along with helping to mask the bald spots AND holding my brows in place.

I find the spoolie a bit bigger then I would like however it's not too big that it's unusable on the eyebrows. However if you have quite thin brows I would probably give this a miss and find something with a smaller brush.

Brows with the Gosh Defining Brow Gel

As you can see it does help to hide that bald spot in my arch and kept my brows in place all day.

Have you tried this brow gel? What easy to use brow products do you suggest?

*Gosh is cruelty free (certified by peta)  and no products are tested on animals.

False Nails

A while back on my blog you may have noticed I got myself some primark false nails. Since then I have tried a few and really found I enjoy wearing them. I love taking some time once a week to do my fake nails. It helps me feel like I've made an effort and I look a bit more put together! So today I just wanted to share some of the nails I have had the past month or so and share some nail tips!

So some tips are,

1) don't use super strong glue this tends to break your natural nails more. The best glue I have found is from primark and it costs about 60p!

2) soak off your nails, don't rip them off. It's pretty self explanatory and you will keep your natural nails healthier.

3) file the edges of the fake nails so they are super smooth. It avoids catching your skin or clothes on them.

4) carry glue with you, seriously nothing is worse then exposing a naked natural nail next to your beautiful false ones!

5) try to nourish your natural nails when you can with oils or treatment top coats. Try to give your natural nails a break and treat them nicely!

Do you wear fake nails? What ones are your favourites?

100 Days Of Makeup Day 1-7

So over on Instagram (you can find me by searching allthingskerri) I've started the 100 days of makeup challenge and I decided it could be good to do a weekly round up of the different looks I come up with here too.

So let me start by saying I'm not the best at makeup! But I am good enough to feel happy with the outcome! I tend to keep thinks quite toned down as in I don't do the whole full coverage base, fully contoured wings on fleek look, mostly because for my skin type which is pretty dry it just would not work. I have been pretty obsessed with my makeup revolution fortune favours the brave palette so I have mostly been using that this week. Also this week I discovered my bathroom has the best lighting!

So onto the makeup (these are all in day order)

Hope you liked some of these! Let me know if you are doing the challenge too and I will follow you on Instagram!

Batiste Dry Shampoo Plus Heavenly Volume.

I am a huge batiste dry shampoo lover! I was over the moon when I found out they were vegan friendly and cruelty free! It meant I could keep one of my holy grail items in my switch over to cruelty fee makeup!

I recently picked up the batiste plus heavenly volume because I have really thin fine hair and wanted to add a bit of oomph to my roots!

This as always does a really good job of soaking up all of those excess oils in my hair however it does leave a really strange texture to my hair.

I like to spray my hair at night so when I wake up the spray has worked its magic but it's just not an option with this spray. It makes my hair matted and knotted together. I do not use this as a dry shampoo anymore but use this in place of a back combing powder. It gives that same sticky texture which means back combing oils sty in well.

It's a shame that this isn't a good dry Shampoo for me because I love the type of this can and I love the scent.

Which is your favourite batiste spray?

Laura Mercier - Radiance Face Primer

In my ongoing search for a good foundation primer I figured I would give the Laura Mercier Radiance Primer a go. I want something that could give me a dewy look to my skin because as I'm getting older, I prefer the look of a dewy skin finish.

I figured this would be great as I have heard so many people talk about how great the Laura Marcier Primers are.

The packaging on the primer is really minimal and for me very pleasing on the eye. The squeeze tube makes application easy and I can really control how much product I use. It feels really silky and smooth when applying it to my skin almost like I am just applying another moisturiser!

This gives me the dewy base I crave for my foundations without making my skin feel heavy or caked up with products. I am just undecided if this extends the life of my foundation or not. And while it may feel nice on my skin I can't help but feel it's a bit of an unnecessary step. I want to love this primer as much as other people do but I just can't! It just doesn't feel like it's doing enough for me! I suppose my quest for a primer wil continue.

Menow Cosmetics - Matte Lip Stains

Lately I have been cleaning out my makeup and along with a whole new host of storage and a smaller collection, i found some hidden gems that I just forgot about. Some of these were the ever so popular 99p matte lipsticks from menow, which you can find on ebay.

I have 4 of them here to share with you and they are all beautiful colours.

From top to bottom I have
Shade 33 - A Wine Burgundy Red
Shade 18 - A Dusty Grey Toned Nude (Think Limecrime Cashmere)
Shade 32 - A Bright Muted Red
Shade 26 - A Pale Pink Nude

The swatches from Left to Right are; 33,18,26 and finally 32

I love the colour of these and the long lasting formula. They can be a tad bit drying on the lips but overall I love wearing them. If you want to test the waters with some matte lip colours you could do much worse then ordering these. I am glad I have rediscovered them and have enjoyed wearing them the last few days. The wear time on these is fantastic I have been able to eat food and drink with these on and they last hours without any noticeable shifting or crumbling. I wish I had a wider range of colours and that these came in a few more crazy colours, the whole collection has a lot of nudes and pinks but not a lot else in between unfortunatly.

January Birchbox 2016

So I got my January Birchbox today and I thought I would share what was inside! The January theme is 'best year ever' a Pinterest inspired box!

I happened to get two mirrors which is handy for me and means I can throw one in my bag for on the go!

Inside is some cute postcards illustrated by Viktorija Semjonova and I really like them!

So inside I have
1 - Benefit They're Real Tinted Primer. I've never used a mascara primer so this could be interesting to try. There has been lots of benefit samples lately so I hope that changes soon.

2 - Jelly Pong Pong Brightener. This is basically a brightening pencil you can use it to structure your brows or open up your eyes by using it in the waterline. Full Size Item

3 - Wush Body Butter. This includes organic aloe, Shea, and raspberry butter and organic seaweed extract. It sounds like it could be nice on my skin so I'm excited to give this a go.

4 - Parlor Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner. I'm glad we got a duo of this because it means I get to see how the shampoo and conditioner work together! My hair is pretty damaged after rounds f bleach so I am happy to try this.

5 - Doux Me Face Mask. This is s exfoliating face mask which claims to be good for sensitive skin so I'm really excited to try this!

6 - Birchbox Mirror. I happen to have two of these so it's nice to have a spare one.

This is not one of the best boxes I have had from Birchbox but it's nice.

Did you get anything different to me?

Planning 2016

So I have one small new years resolution this morning and that is to be more organised. I try to remeber everything I need or want to do but other then knowing what my shifts are for work, I dont get very far. Especially where my blog and youtube are involved. It always seems to be the one thing to suffer, so this year I will attempt to be more organised with my time and write things down!

Basically from now on I will be organising my life using this pretty little diary I found from Calander Club.

The diary is a page a day, the sides of the pages are indended with each month so its easy to find the month you are after and each month also has a notes page so I can basically jot down any ideas I have or anything I dont want to forget.

I also have this super cute a5 gold chevron note pad which I will be using to note down all my blog post ideas and video ideas, because I often forget all of the ideas I had and I run out of things to write about!

So then we go onto the colour coding! Black ink pens are all about my work life, Red is about youtube, Blue is about my blog and Gold is any other things I need to jot down! I feel so organised!

I hope this helps me out a bit because I am so un-organised in my every day life its untrue! I would just sit around and do nothing if I could get away with it with because I really do not manage my time well!

What are some of your resolutions this year?
