#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 21 - Look Beauty Lip Liner - Hyper Melon

Hyper Melon is a lip liner I feel in love with when I saw it. The colour is so unusual and I desperately wanted to be brave enough to wear it all over my lips! However when I originally brought it I was not brave enough.

However now I am after getting into more daring lip colours and while you need a balm on your lips as the lip liner is fairly drying the colour is just amazing.

It is almost a neon pink orange tone and honestly the picture below does the colour no justice!

However I find this colour to be beautiful! What is your most daring lip colour?

My Thoughts On Youtube

Youtube is often a wonderful place, but at the same time is can be a pretty lonely place, especially if you are a smaller blogger! I joined youtube many years ago just as it was becoming a big thing! I loved watching people just sit in front of a camera and share their feelings, hardly any editing went into it all, and I decided to give it a go as it looked fun!

However youtube like most things, has changed and now sadly it looks more like a giant advert with big prouction value then it does anything else.

Which all really leads to a very confused Kerri, as I still think of youtube as this small little place you can sit infront of a camera and just do whatever, and in my latest video I kind of chat about whether that will still work in todays youtube! I also talk about why I left and why I came back!

#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 20 - Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Lipstick - Sangria

This Sally Hansen lipstick was something I picked up in poundworld, honestly I thought the brand was nail polishes only, however there was a few lipsticks at the time I picked this up, there was also a blush that I love using come winter time!

Back to the lipstick, this is called Sangria and comes in rather nice green packaging.

The lipstick itself is a burgundy red shade in the tube but it comes across more blood red on the lips. Almost like a deep red wine.

I actually find this a little difficult to apply. and it would apply better with a lip brush, but I am just impatient and really like quick application from the tube. This can look a little patchy with some bits looking darker then others, but overall it is a nice glossy looking lipstick! What do you think of the shade?

#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 19 - Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss - Gold Dust*

This lipgloss is one I typically use to go over the top of nude lipsticks, especially if they have a dry texture to them. As most of my nudes ar pink based, this rather golden brown lipgloss doesnt get a lot of use. However I have found the perfect lipstick for it to go with (see yesterdays post)

I have to admit I really like the packaging from the quilted lid to the glass tube, it all looks rather expensive!

And here is the gloss, it really is pretty and I should use it more!

*I won this lipgloss in a competition and did not pay for it. Opinions are 100% my own.

Yves Rocher Nail Polish - Rose - Review

This little nail polish from Yves Rocher came in the August UK GlossyBox. This polish is in the shade Rose.

The polish itself is actually tiny, you get 3ml of product for around £3 they do have some offers on their website. Yves Rocher is a company that are interested in sustainable development and botanical ingredients, so while some things may seem expensive, this is probably why. Onto the nail polish. They claim that this is a one coat nail polish

However even with two coats applied here, I still found it to be slightly patchy, and it could hold brush marks. If I had the time I would have done a third coat but honestly I'm a one coat kind of girl and out the door. I am forever doing my nails last minute! I also because of the shade do not think that you will get a lot of use out of this, because I really do need a lot of this to cover my nails. However in fairness I do think that a darker colour would apply better and probably be fine in just one coat.

While this particular shade is not for me I am not ruling out the brand all together as they look like they have some nice stuff.

#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 18 - NYC Mousse

This is a lipstick that has sat in my drawers for the longest time and never really been used. It wasn't until I got my new acrylic storage that I decided to switch and rotate my lipsticks around (helpful for this series) that I actually found this lipstick. It is a lovely nude colour (honestly I have more nudes then I ever thought I would) and it is perfect for school or work.

I think the packaging looks quite cheap on these lipsticks and Im not a huge fan of the clear lid I think it looks rather tacky!
However the colour is nice, if a little bit drying, I think I would choose a nude gloss to go over the top of this.

Wednesday, 27 August 2014

Now this is probably going to seem a very odd topic for a lot of people, and a very difficult post for me to name. I wanted to talk about the new candles on my desk (you may have seen them in the backgrounds of my pictures) and why I specifically chose those colours.

I keep my candles in jars just as I am hugely clumbsy so if I knock them over hopefully they stay contained and the wax wont go every where and ruin things.

For my candles I picked Ivory and Pink. The colours respresent two things that I want in my life right now. The ivory represents balance, harmlessness and neutrality, all things I crave right now, as in my alone time I can tend to have polar thoughts I go to dark places or happy places, and I really want the neutral ground of both and to provide myself a bit of balance in my thoughts. The pink represents spiritual love, friendship, devotion, love, affection and healing.

I like to spend some time alone most days and burn my candles to think about the things I want from life. These two colours symbolise a lot of those feelings right now.

The pink candle is also scented with honeysuckle which enhances the bonds of love and can be used to heal relationships. So my thoughts with that scent were that I have has a hard time in my relationship things are getting better and improving and I want to improve our bond together so anything that will help is a big big bonus in my book!

Now I know this sounds like strange things to most people but I actually really believe in the spiritual, and the occult. I am not a practising pagan or wiccan but I do believe in a lot os the symbolism that appears in there such as herbs and spices having meaning and being helpful on a spiritual level. I have the same believe in candles. I believe the colours mean things and can help attract those things to us. Whenever I buy a candle for someone I do tend to think about them as a person and what I want for them, and while I decorate the candle (I like to add their names and things to them) I kind of pass on my wishes and hope that when they burn the candle those well wishes are attracted to the person. The last candle I brought for my mom was black as black is said to ward of negative energy. She was ill at the time and I wanted to ward those negative feelings away. If I buy candles for someone I do not know that well it tends to be a white candle which essentially is the balance of all the candle colours. This is a pretty good link if you are interested in the meaning of coloured candles, but of course not everyone is!

Please note in no way am I trying to say what I believe is true, I think all religious ideals are true, I did a lot of studying in uni as I did a religious studies degree, I happen to believe that whatever truth you believe in and have faith in, is true. So just a I would not disrespect anything you believe in please do not disrespect what I believe in.

#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 17 - Baby Lips

Oh its time to give my lips a much needed break! They are getting rather dry lately with the change in weather so today I decided to really slather them with a moisturising lip product to give them a little love!

This is Baby Lips I think it is the cherry flavour one? Im not 100% sure it was in poundland and the packaging was all in Chinese! Also on a side note, I hate this photo, in the last couple of weeks I think I have really imrpoved my photography with a few editing tips, and I am just unimpressed by 's this photo but I don't have much time to retake all my photo's especially with it getting darker quicker now.

I dont have a photo of me today I am at work for the long haul today, 12 hours and really I have a bare face so there is nothing to photograph!

See you tomorrow with hopefully a more exciting lip product for you!

#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 16 - Rimmel Apocalips - Apocaliptic

I remember all of the blogger hype around the Rimmel Apocalips and I remember falling for it hook line and sinker! Sadly as my makeup tastes have changed I no longer like these as much as I first did as I have to keep touching them up and reapplying them, but for days at home when all I am doing is having a sofa day, but I want a nice cheery bright lip I do find myself reaching for them.

So as you can see from the pictures the shade apocalipic is a shocking bright pink! It is beautiful I just wish they didnt move round on the lips so much and that they didnt need to be topped up as much.

I do like the shade however it goes with my pale skin rather well!!

Statement Jewellery - Part 2 - Bracelets

Well as I said last time whenever I wear jewellery I like it to be a bit eye catching so for this part of my statement jewellery pieces I am going to talk about my bracelets. You can also check out my necklace post here.

As with my necklaces I like my bracelets to be statement pieces. They are usually bangles as they are easier for me to take on and off!

 1. St Ives Flower Bangle. My mom brought me this as a gift from St Ives. It is made there and is a beautiful sterling silver bangle. As mother knows best she knows I am not a huge fan of gold and she also thought this would fit my unusually tiny wrists without looking too big on me like some set size bracelets do! I can't find this online anymore which is a shame :(

2. New Look Elasticated Leaf Bracelets. I got these about a year ago and I fell in love with them. They remind me of old roman bangles or something you would see someone wearing in the film 300!
This one is similar but not the same as these were an old style :(

 3. Black Tied Affirmation Bangle. This is possibly the most meaning item of jewellery I own so far.
The affirmation bracelets from Black Tied are beautifully made and come with a variety of positive sayings. This time last year I was going through a really bad rough patch and I couldn't shake myself out of it. I needed some positive vibes to start believing in myself again. After a lot of hard work I started to get out of my bad period and about 5 months ago I brought this bracelet as a reminder to myself to keep dreaming and believing in the things I can achieve, whether that's just taking each happy day as it comes or the bigger dreams like trying to improve my crafting skills to the point where I could possibly make my own jewellery. It seems silly to some people that a bracelet may help in focusing your energy but I actually believe in the little magical acts every day items can have and this bracelets helps me focus my energy in a positive way. So to me this is my most important piece of jewellery.

Do you like statement pieces or simple jewellery pieces better?

#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 15 - ELF - Runway Pink

Eyes Lips Face (ELF) do some amazing lipsticks especially in the studio range. I love a good nude pink based lip and Elf has alot of those. I have on Runway Pink today however I find the formula to be quite drying and difficult to work with so I like to wear a balm underneath. It also adds a nice sheen to the finish of the lipstick.

The packaging on these collects a bit of dirt but they are nice long lasting lipsticks. So it is swings and roundabouts with ELF.

This is almost the perfect my lips but better colour so I love to break out this bad boy every once in a while and make my self up without feeling over done!

Half way through now! I only need to pick another 15 lipsticks to show you guys!!

#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 14 - Revlon Lip Butter - Candy Apple

Another lip butter today, I wanted to wear a red lipstick but not have it be in your face (is that really possible) so I decided on the most muted red I own. Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple.

This is honestly not one of my favourite lip butters I think the colour can go a little bit patchy, but it is still a nice red shade.

Excuse me for my rather bad lighting all natural light had gone, however I am playing around with a few tricks some other bloggers gave me about positioning and editing pictures slightly. Mostly straightening playing with curves and brightening the overall picture. So far I am liking the improvements!

And here's me wearing Candy Apple, I don't dislike this colour, I just don't like it as much as I thought I would when I saw it. I think if it was more rich in colour payoff I would wear this a lot more!

V05 - Give Me Texture - Review

I have very thin fine and limp hair, and I have tried numerous products to give my hair a little boost from the roots, from powders, to styling products, to sprays for drying your hair, nothing really gives that bit of lift and boost I was after at my roots. Especially around my face.

That was until I found the V05 Give Me Texture - Dry Texture Spray! I initially thought that this spray would be a bit like dry shampoo but its more like a dry sea salt spray (I've not had much luck with those either!)

This spray is so easy to use it is almost idiot proof, I say that because it took me a couple of attempts to get the best results with this. Firstly I style my hair as I normally would which consists of a heat protection cream for coloured hair and then blasting it with a hair dryer. As my hair is so fine it never really holds a shape or a style very well, so I try to dry my growing out fringe away from my face while trying to blow some volume in. This last bit never works and my hair just always lies flat on my face :(

I will then hold up a top section of my hair and spray underneath on the roots, and I go section by section around my whole head. I then massage in the product and ruffle it up a bit. I then have boosted roots and a bit more volume and oomph to my hair. It doesn't last all day but it is enough for me to feel a bit more confident about my hair. I also find this looks really nice if I loosely curl my hair and spray this in and mess it about, it hold the curl a bit better and falls into that messy beach hair look throughout the day.

The only downside to this spray is it can make your hair feel dry and it has a dry texture too it almost like hairspray but not as crispy. I don't know its weird to describe but my hair defiantly does not feel as soft as normal when I use this. However in my mind it is a small price to pay and my hair generally goes back to feeling fine when I put a bit of leave in conditioner in.

What products do you use to bring life to flat hair?

#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 13 - Collection 2000 Cream Puff - Cotton Candy

Collection 2000 Cream Puff in Cotton Candy was the first ever matte lip product I owned. You could say this little beauty is responsible for my matte lip obsession. So much so I have purchased it time and time again as they are so affordable.

This little cream puff is so purse friendly as its quite small but pack a serious punch in wearable matte lip texture.

Oh by the way how do you like the new picture set up? Im hoping in natural lighting the colours look better as it is about 9pm and I realised I had not taken pictures of the products I was writing about! Ooops,

This however is some lovely natural daylight so you can see what the collection 2000 cream puff actually looks like.

Simple Washi Tape Idea's

Washi Tape is not a new concept for me. As a long time Scrapbooker (random yes I know) I have used washi tape to stick in photos for pages, and also to decorate pages of my scrapbooks. However it is cropping up in shops more and I keep seeing people ask what it is actually for. It is essentially thin, easy to move, patterned paper tape. So I have decided to show you a few of my idea's for using washi tape that you do not have to be an expert to do! (Nothing annoys me more then those pinterest pictures of graffic washi tape designs on walls, please I do not have those kinds of skills!)

1. Covering up table scuffs or adding a bit of interest to furniture.

Now I used the washi tape to cover up some of the scratches and missing flakes of paint on the edge of my desk, but I think the black patterened tape contrasts nicely with the white desk and adds a little bit of individuality to an otherwise boring desk! I have also seen people cover light swiches, put stripes on fridges and washing machines, all to make things look a bit more pleasing to the eye!

2. Decorating Plain Gift Boxes

For this one I decided on two complimentary colours and patterns to cover my gift box. Of course you do not have to use this diagnal pattern you can do whatever you want! I just think its a nice way to make a boring box cute and it means I don't have to worry about wrapping the present as this looks nice by itself!

3. Add Labels To Items

Ive seen people put the washi tape on their cables to know which one is which, but I like labelling plain packaging with mine. I am thinking of getting a contour palette that looks similar to this packaging so having a cute little label on there will make it easier to tell which one is which!

Now if you search pinteret you will find a lot more interesting ways to use washi tape then I could ever show you here, but I don't really want to be stealing photo's especially as I do not use pinterest that much anymore! If I go back on I will just pin for days and forget about everything else!

#30DaysOfLipstick - Day 12 - Lime Crime Velvetine Wicked

Another Lime Crime velvetine today. This one comes in the new style of packaging and is from the new clueless witch collection. It is in the shade wicked.

I have to say I like the older packaging better because I just thought it fit the whimsical unicorn persona of Lime Crime better then the roses do!

Once on and dried this is a beautiful red burgundy lipstick and looks beautiful matte. I love matte lipsticks but I can't wear them as often as I like because they dry my lips out over a prolonged length of time!

I tend to reach for this lipstick a lot lately as I love the darker lip as we turn to the colder winter weather.

PT Demo (Silent Hills Playable Trailer)

If you are a fan if gaming, a horror fan, a Silent Hill fan and you have not heard of the PT demo yet, where have you been?

It is basically a playable trailer for the new silent hill film and will actually make you want to cry with fear. My inner monologue while playing was something like this,

*omg this is so realistic for a demo this looks amazing*
*ok some guy murdered his family the story is conveniently playing on a radio*
*did that door just open.....*
*wtf was that*
*no no no no no*
*fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck*
*I don't want to go down there*
* no no no no no*
*actual screams*
*nope nope nope*
*why has everything gone red?*
*please make the baby cry for a second and third time, I get to end the demo then......why wont this baby cry any more?? I want to stop this game but can't without this crying baby......oh fuck where did that shitting thing come from*
*and more internal crying when I cant figure out how to make this baby cry and cant complete the demo!*

Basically I love this demo, the levels or loops as they are, can play out randomly also the ending can be achieved in a few different ways (not that I have managed it yet) and it has so many genuine scares I am hugely excited! Hideo Kojima has done and amazing job on this game, and if Silent Hills has any of the scares this game delivers it will be amazing! Hideo said himself that he wants SH9 to make you shit your pants. The great thing about this demo is the paranoia of knowing something will happen but not knowing when as you can't actually do a lot in the demo game!

Here's some creepy images from the game, look away now if you would rather not be freaked out!

*WARNING if you actually want to complete this game you will need a microphone and headphone set, failing that you can freak yourself out and quit all together*

Honestly this game scares me so much as you know something will happen you just don't know when!!

What kind of games do you like to play? (also normal beauty blogging will resume soon!)
