Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Review

This is the second time I have had the chance to sample the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer both times my hair has been in drastically different conditions so I feel I can give a well rounded review on the actual product now.

The Philip Kingsley Elasticizer is a pre treatment for your shampoo. I've only ever seen this 'in action' on QVC where they claim this should add life to the hair nourish it and help with the stretchy feeling of over processed hair.

I used this as directed and kept the product away from my roots as I have fine hair and it can weigh it down. My hair on first use of this sample was overly bleached had a lot of stretch, was very dry and brittle. The second bottle of this my hair was in good condition slightly dry ends (I do have dry ends and greasy roots) but just needed a bit of extra bourisment to give a bit of shine to my hair.

Whenever I have used this product I am sad to say I have been disappointed. With my bleached hair it added no extra moisture and did nothing for the stretchy feeling my hair had. I expected with regular use the hair to improve in texture but it just didn't. When my hair has been in better condition even while concentrating this on my hair ends I find it heavy in my hair and makes my roots a lotore oily a lot faster. Not really ideal. I do not know if this is just because I have fine hair and it is too rich for it but it really doesn't make a lot of difference, I would just rather put a bit of hair oil in my hair!  The fact that this adds an unnecessary step in shampooing my hair irritates me too! I like to shampoo add a bit of conditioner if needed and get out of the shower asap I do not really need the hassle of adding in another 5-10 minutes into the routine!

Have you tried the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer? What are your thoughts on it?

Avon Clearskin Pore Penetrating Mask

After trying a few different face masks I have found that I like masks I can really see working, drawing out gunk and oil from my face! This pore penetrating mask is often on offer in avon so I figured I would give it a go!

The mask starts out a dark charcoal colour, it does feel difficult to put on, it doesnt look an even layer you may still see your skin through it, it feels a bit sticky, but it does eventually go on and it doesnt matter if it is an uneven layer.

It dries to a light grey colour so it is easy to tell when you need to wash off this mask. The best thing about this is you can see it drawing out excess oil in your face, small darker dots appear in the mask.

Once the mask is dry after about 10 minutes you wash it off and pat your face dry. I love that i can see and feel the difference this makes to my skin it helps to draw out spots and excess oil. It can feel tight on the skin while drying but that is about the only issue I have with this mask! I also think it could be a cheaper alternative to the glam glow mud mask!

Making The Most Of Your Money This Christmas

Christmas is always a stressful time, with the pressure of buying people gifts and shops and adverts saying get this thing and spend all your money here, it is difficult to find the savings. However I think facebook selling pages are becoming more popukar and you can find some great bargains if you look hard enough.

The pages can be filled with new unused unopened unwanted gifts that could be got for a decent price! I got my moms christmas gift off a selling page.

I got her a swarovski wrap bracelt for £20 delivered. The bracelet is still available online and retails for £45 so I had a pretty good saving!

If you are looking to go down this route to get a few gifts this year I have a few tips for you.

Offer to pay via paypal that way you can still have some buyer security.

Arrange to see the items before you commit to buying especially if it is something electrical!

Look for tell tale signs of fake items especially in regards to makeup!

Haggle with the price you will be surprised at the offers some people accept for items they do not want!

Hope you have a merry christmas and remember it is the special memories that make christmas not just the gifts you give x

Pixi Lip Balm Honey Necter

I have always loved a tinted lip balm as it is easy to use at work while still giving me a nice wash of colour.

This Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm is in a beautiful nude shade called Honey Necter. I will be honest I have never been a true nude lip fan I tend to lean towards the pinkier tones, but this one really looks nice, and feel moisturising on my lips.

It gives a really nice sublte shine of colour to the lips, which actually works really wll with the natural colours of my lips. They are really pink toned, and this look beautiful on them. I feel like it lasts a good time as well and it is easy to apply a touch up when needed.

Making Healthier Food Choices

With so much choice in food especially this time of year, I sometimes find it difficult to keep to a healthy diet, give me sugar and fatty food any day! It has dawned on me and Pawl that this is not the most healthiest of diets, especially with him being older we want to keep ourselves in tip top condition!

So I have changed just a couple of things in our daily diet and hopefully it makes a big difference!

Breakfast is always a piece of fruit now, two if it a small fruit like a small banana, generally I love to go for a big Granny Smith apple, they taste nice and give me a nice boost for the morning.

For lunch right now I love nothing better then a salad with fish sticks and mayo, I sometimes throw in some croutons but generally try to avoid it. I tend to pick more crunchy style leaves for my salad as I find them nicer and sweeter to eat. I try to use a really small amount of mayo or I opt for a light salad dressing with educed fat content in them.

For dinner I tend to cook hearty meals, usually fish or chicken based with potatoes and veg, but I like to mix it up and I cook meatball and pasta and bbq pulled pork baguettes. I try not to limit the last meal of the day and  cook whatever I am craving that day! Add in some exercise (Daily for Pawl on doctors orders) and I think we can see the beginning of a healthier lifestyle for both of us!

Everyday Makeup

I have lately been trying to figure out a flattering face look that can take me as little as five minutes to get done for days when I am running really late for work! So generally a fast face of makeup everyday!!

I tend to go fairly light on the face while still looking made up very neutral on the eyes (eyeliner is optional depending on how awake I feel) and a nude lip. I tend to use a tinted lip balm at work but on days off I mix my lipstick up sometimes bold sometimes note muted.

I have filmed a video that should go on my YouTube very soon but I will run through what I have used here.

Mac face and body
Seventeen stay time concealer
Wet n Wild powder
I <3 Makup definition palette
Naked 2 palette
Lime Crime eyeliner
Seventeen Dolled up mascara
Mac Please Me lipstick

What is your everyday makeup?

Jess Nail Polish

While looking around poundland the other day I came across a stand of Jess Nail Polishes I needed a green for some halloween nails I was doing and decided at a £1 I can't really complain if it ends up being a bit rubbish!

However The Jess Nail Polish is actually really nice!

The colour I picked up is this beautiful green in the shade 'Rio' Can I just say how much I love the fact that the polishes have names? So many times 'cheap' brands are let down because everything is numbered but having names for colours gives a really nice touch. Secondly I love the size of the lid, I love these big chunky lids and I have always liked spending an extra pound or two on say Models Own polish then Barry M as I just find the lid easier to hold and use, so I really like that Jess have given their nail polish a chunky lid.

The Bottle do look rather small and I thought maybe you would get a smaller amount of polish then other brands. You get 9ml of product for you £1 here and comparing it to other brands there is not much difference Barry M give you 10ml of product, Nails Inc give you 10ml the closest good quality polish in price point would be Essence for me and you only get 8ml with them! So there really is no skimping on size.

As for texture of the polish it goes on smooth and you really only need one coat however I like to go for two if I know I will be wearing it for a few days as it lasts a bit longer and looks a bit richer in colour. You can see the colour below on my frankenstein nails.

For £1 I am really impressed with these nails and I can not wait to go and get some more! They really are good value and god quality! Quite a hidden gem! These are sold exclusively at Pounland.

Late Halloween Makeup

I have been away for a few days trying to sort out some things at home, I never try to pressure myself into writing on my blog and just spend time doing it when I feel like it! So although it is a little bit late, I wanted to share with you my Halloween makeup.

I decided to go as Medusa using fishnets to make green scales (which didn't work too great) Some 65p snakes from wilko's in my hair! Finally finishing it with green lipstick (which is actually eyeliner!)

My mate Siobhan wanted a huge cat mouth painted on her so I did my best with my limited skills, then panicked as I realised I use a semi-perm eyeliner and she had a interview the next day! Thankfully it came off!
and finally Matt was Hannibal! We didn't do much we just went to our regular pub quiz and gained extra points for dressing up!

How was your Halloween did you dress up?

TV Shows That Are Distracting Me

We all have our own little bits of distraction mostly I watch films or read a book but lately a few TV shows have really got my attention and I spend most of my time going 'well if I do this now I will have time to watch this show'

1. The Walking Dead

It is back for its fifth season and oh my days was episode one a heart racer! I loved every second and I can not wait for monday nights when I get back home and get to watch this after work.

2. Release The Hounds

This is a UK TV game show where groups of three go into the grounds of a house and they are filled with gory tasks to complete to get money. After each round you get told how much of a 'head start' you have and one of your team member has to win your money by running away from a pack of trained dogs. Its scary and its amazing to watch!! Some of the tasks have been horrible especially the clown with the chainsaw!!

3. American Horror Story

I stopped watching during season 3 I like the idea of a coven but it just was not as good as other series of the show. But I have to admit I am really liking the freak show element so far. Adds a great new chapter to the story and I can not wait to see what happens next!! (P.S that clown is super creepy)

4. Ghost Adventures

It is so corny I love it, I love to go on ghost hunts so I love watching ghost hunting shows on TV this is one of my favourtie ones to watch and despite what people say I do not think that this one is entirely made up, sure some bits are for entertainment but some of it is pretty damn good!!

5. Breaking Bad.

Ive already watched all the shows before but I really fancied watching them again! It has been one of the best TV shows I have watched in a long long time!

What TV shows do you think I should try? There are a lot of good super hero ones coming out in the uk soon like Gotham, The Flash, so I might end up watching those, and everyone keeps saying I should watch Orange Is The New Black. Anything Else I should watch?

October Glossybox Pop Art Box Review

This review is going to be a little bit different as I have not put a picture of what was in my box instead you will have a youtube video of me showing you!

In the box
Rimmel Matte BB Cream - Light
Ciate Paint Pot - Snow Virgin
Yves Rocher - Quelques Notes D'amore L'eu de parfum
Nuxe Masque Creme Fraiche
Etre Belle - Liplift Peel
So Susan - Flutter Mascara

Out of the 6 items four of them were full size, which was really generous and to my workings out the box came to around £67.67. I tried to work out sample size prices but glossybox always values them higher then they are and then one price was in euro's so I just gave a rough price cost for that.

Overall I am really happy with the box, the design is one of my favorite ones they have made, I love the colourful theme, I do wish I got a coloured polish to match the theme instead of a boring white, but there is not a lot I can do about that!

This box has convinced me to give glossybox another month to proove themselves as the box is really great, I just hope the next one lives up the the expectations of this one!

Harry Potter Warner Bros Tour

Last Saturday I had the most magical experience I have ever had in my life. As a massive Harry Potter fan getting to go to the Warner Bros tour was such a great experience for me. To see all the props walk around it sets and see all the concept art was so amazing.

Im not going to post all the pictures here (spoiler I took over 1000) but I will tell you it is worth every single penny and is such a brilliant day out and would make a brilliant present for any fan of the books or the films.

 The cupboard under the stairs.

Files from the ministry of magic.

Me outside Privet Drive standing all wonky!!

 The amazing Diagon Alley.

One of the most spectacular things I have seen this scale model of Hogwarts is HUGE

ALL OF THE WANDS (there was thousands one for everyone in the film)

playing out my stepson me and pawl :)

Have any of you guys been? What did you think?

Green Eyes Burgundy Lips

This eye look was actually part of a upcoming halloween look but I really liked how it turned out! And rather then take it all off to film some 'normal videos' I left the eye look and teamed it with a byrgundy lip colour.

I think the two colours go really well together and it is something a little bit different for me!  What do you think of this look?

Shaveworks - The Cool Fix - Review

So when the Shaveworks The Cool Fix landed in my latest Birchbox I got very excited! It is an after shave gel that has been desgined to treat ingrown hairs, razor bumps, razor burn and redness.

The idea of this gel is that you use it daily and after shaving on dry skin to help ease the associated razor burn from shaving!

Honestly when I used The Cool Fix for the first time I was in for a shock I figured it would feel a bit like a cooling gel, oh no, its tingley on your skin almost like putting on aftershave! It stings!

It only lasts a few seconds but afterwards my skin felt cooler and looked less red. I tend to use this on my underarms just teo minimise any ingrown hairs and mostly to cool the skin, I wont use it on my legs due to fear of it reacting with my eczema but mostly so far all I can say is that I am enjoying this little product. There's not a lot to say about this other then after the initial sting it is rather cooling and nice on the skin, it feels softer and less dry on my underarms now I use this after shaving.

Have you used this? What did you think of it?

October Birchbox - Work It - Coppa Feel

So I finally picked up my October Birchbox from the post office and I am so excited to get this one.

This month Birchbox is in partnership with CoppaFeel giving you tips of what to looks for as indicators and early detection of breast cancer. This is a great partnership as October is breast cancer awareness month. I was really impressed with this as honestly I know I should check regulary but I do not really know what to look for whereas now I do! So a big thanks to Birchbox for sending out such important information.

The other theme for this box is 'Work It' so the box contains everything you need to get ready for your 9-5 job. Not that I work 9-5 but oh well its filled with some great products!

Inside is
A Birchbox pen shaped like a lipstick! It is actually pretty cool!
KMS Hair Play - A dry wax texturising spray
Cattier Pink Clay Mask - You get two 12.5ml sample of this so a really generous sample.
The Cool Fix - This is for after shaving to sooth irritation and reduce the amount of ingrown hairs
Meaningful Beauty Glowing Serum - A nice lightweight serum that gives a nice glow
Pixi Lip Balm - This is not a shade I would have picked but its a really nice tinted balm.

A long with everything else I think this is a nice box. The packaging could have been better I think the box would have looked nicer in pink or with a handprint on to match the Coppafeel logo.

You can get Birchbox here for £12.95 if you use by referal code you get £5 worth birchbox points to spend in the Birchbox store. If you sign up this month Birchbox will also give £1 to Coppafeel.

Here is the referal code http://birchbox.co.uk/?raf=57067

Comme Des Garcons 2 - Gift Idea

The other day I got this sample of Comme Des Garcons 2 (CdG2) and it is unisex perfume. This smells different to me and my partner I think we pick out different scents in it.

Here are all the notes that are in the fragrance. Japanese Sumi ink, incense, patchouli, cedarwood, angelica root, vetiver, magnolia, amber, labdanum, new aldehydes, cumin, cade oil, absolute maté, abslolute foli.

I really smell the incense, amber and the cedarwood it smells very warm and earth like to me. It is a instant smell that is instantly warming and then it lasts such a long time. Me and Pawl both get compliments when we wear it which is always nice, I think because it has such a strong earthy warm scent it really appeals to people.

The packaging on the full bottles is really interesting it is almost shaped like a pebble and is a reflective silver colour. It looks very stylish! This is a rather expensive scent the cheapest place I have found it is Escentual which has discounts on the RRP.

Pawl is pretty impressed with this too. From a mans point of view he likes the smell but most of all he likes that it stays a strong scent on him for around 4 hours and then gets lighter later on in the day. He currently has Davidoff Cool Water but he likes this one much better because it lasts longer. I definately think I am going to get him a bottle of this for christmas as I think it makes a great gift for a loved one.

What are your favorite scents?

Halloween Nails

Today I tried some Halloween inspired nails! I used Rimmel Nail Nurse as my base coat, it's really helping my nails to get stronger, I used Nails Inc New York Noir, Sally Hansen Ivory Skull, and Nails Inc Matte Top Coat, I was going to keep the little ghosts all glossy but I decided matte looked better!

All you need to get this is paint all your nails but one black, decide which nail will be your accent nail and paint that one white! Using a dotting too add little eyes to all the nails and then a mouth to your ghost! I decided to make the little eyes all point different ways just to make it looks interesting.

I need to tidy this up and just practise with the dotting tools but I am really happy with how this turned out.

Makeup Revolution Blush - Love - Review

Ever since I picked up the makeup revolution blush in treat I knew I wanted to try some more. I picked another peach shade. This time I picked up the blush shade love.

This is much cooler in colour and gives a nice natural flush. I like to wear this one high up on my cheeks and no contour as this warms up my face lightly.

You can see the shade is peach toned witha hint of pink in it. However sadly I do not like this one as much as the other Makeup Revolution blush I own. The Love blush shade just doesnt apply as nicely and doesnt feel as smooth. this one goes on rather heavy and you need such a light hand. However that being said for £1 Makeup Revolution Blush in Love is a nice blush shade if you want to try something new.

Halloween Idea

The other day I popped into a fancy dress shop and picked up some liquid latex and some gel blood! Perfect for some blood and gore filled looks!

Honestly as good as this can look (this is my first try) liquid latex smells so horrible it actually makes my eyes water!!

I think the blood is a little bit too bright red. However mixing a bit of the fake blood with some brown shadow makes for some pretty cool bruises. For my first play around with liquid latex I am happy, time to practise some more!

Are any of you dressing up for Halloween?
