Liz Earle Eyebright - Review

Hands up who has an allergy that effects the eyes? Hay fever? Dust? Pets? I have hay fever and I'm allergic to my moms cats (bummer) but I don't let it stop me from spending time in the sun or with the cats! I take my allergy tablets but I always still suffer with red itchy and puffy eyes, this is where my saviour Liz Earle Eyebright comes in!

I purchased a small bottle of this around the winter of last year when I was having huge problems with my eyes, related to dust from my old job. This really soothed the dry cracked skin, cooled my eyes down and helped a huge amount! It didn't fix the problem a lot of creams and a change of job solved my problems but this is amazing for helping with red and puffy eyes.

I have a couple of ways I use Eyebright and I'm going to share both ways with you now!

Casual Use -

I use this way when my eyes are hot after a long day of looking at computers or a little bit tired, heavy or dry feeling. Place a cotton pad over the top and tip the bottle upside down, move the pad so there is a few drops of this on the pad, gently wipe over clean closed eyes for 2 minutes using soft sweeping motions from the inner corner to the outer corner, then swipe around the eye socket and getting the whole area of skin around the eye.  I use a clean pad and repeat the process for the other eye. This is just a quick refreshing way to use this, Ive often done this after cleansing and noticing some mascara or something that hasn't quite come off. But it's amazing how soothing this feels!

This is the way I use it when I'm like 'what the hell it looks like Ive been in a fight!' again make sure your eye area is clean for this method! I have one of those little gel eye masks that I put in the fridge and the coolness from that really helps with this method but its not really necessary if you don't have one, it's just something that helps me. Or you could pop this in the fridge and use it cool. I completely soak two pads with the Eyebright. Lean back close my eyes and put the pads over my eyes. I then place the mask over the top. This helps to keep the area cool and helps de-puff my eyes but more importantly helps keep the cotton pads in place. If you don't have the mask just lean your head back and relax! I leave the pads on for 10-15 minutes soaked in the Liz Earle Eyebright. This give the ingredients time to work their magic. I'm not saying it's a miracle cure for badly damaged eyes but I always noticed it was easier to move my eyes they felt less strained and the redness was reduced and they were less puffy.

Be warned if the skin around your eyes are cracked this may sting a little bit, but I found the feeling afterwards of relaxed eyes much better and it outweighed any initial stinging feeling. This little bottle is a miracle for me either way I use it. After the lotion has soaked in I apply a good eye cream. I use clinique all about the eyes rich at the moment because it has worked wonders for me. But everyone will have their own eye cream you love to use.

This little 50ml bottle costs £5.50 on the Liz Earle Website and the larger 150ml costs £10.75. I will be purchasing the larger bottle when I run out of this as I really can't be without this!

Operation Day - 25/07/2013

The big day I had been so nervous about since last Friday! I'm still not going to go into detail about what I had done, but in the run up I had been sick for about 6 weeks and couldn't keep and food or liquid down. It was really getting me down. So I was glad to have my op to help fix the problem but was terribly nervous at the same time! I arrived at the hospital at about 12.30 and found my ward. It was incredibly difficult to find! I hate it when hospitals are like mazes! It took two different nurses to get me where I was supposed to be!

My wristband was pretty funny because I had to have alert printed on it in big letters so everyone in theater knew that even when I'm sedated I have been known to react and hit a doctor in the past :( I felt so bad about it. Thankfully this time that didn't happen and all doctors were safe!!

I had such a long wait, thankfully the ward I was on was closed off and I sat in a corridor until about 4pm when I was eventually wheeled down to theater.

If you have never had anaesthesia before it is the weirdest feeling ever! As they insert the drugs through this plastic thing in your hand you feel it tingle up your arm, shut your eyes and when you open them again a few hours have passed and everything is done! Its so weird and confusing how you just loose hours of your life and it feels like you have just blinked!! I woke up in a recovery room, but then I must have gone back to sleep for a bit because I woke up again in my ward room. So I was stuck in my ward room waiting for my lovely Pawl to come and pick me up as he wasn't allowed with me at all during the day. So I hadn't seen him since 6am. So when I saw him at 5.30pm I was so happy. So today I'm resting up and I have a day at work on Saturday :(

I'm in a bit of pain but I am also feeling better today and Ive managed to eat something and I'm keeping it down. So seriously whatever they did must have worked!

I hope you are all having a great day!

Get To Know Me - Beauty Blogger Tag

Getting back into blogging is a little difficult for me! I just lost all mojo after my week off!! So I'm here with a little get to know me tag I found on Beauty Broadcast. It seemed like fun!  So onto the tag :)

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
My hair is so flat and sad :( it's so fine and perfectly straight. I need something to give it a bit of life and bounce. I really want to try those sleep rollers to see if they will give it a bit of shape and life!

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I dye my hair myself. I have not actually been to a hair dressers in about a year (its so bad I know) but my mom used to be a hairdresser so she trims and cuts my hair. I also get great advice on what to do with my hair if anything does go wrong.
3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
I pretty much have the same style it stays down or its tied up. I really need to experiment a bit more. I do like it when I put in a few loose curls, but sometimes its just too much of a hassle to do all the time!
4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
Ive never ever had my nails done by a professional I always toy with the idea when I see someone with a fantastic set of falsies all nicely painted. If I'm honest I always just paint them one colour and then let them chip away and pick another colour!
5. How often do you change your nail polish?
I pretty much do it every week, sometimes more. I'm so gutted because I just did a floral design that Ive had to take off after two days because I'm going in for an operation (I will probably be there when your reading this! wish me luck I'm kind of very nervous)
6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?
I hardly ever Polish my toe nails, and when I do I always forget Ive done it and it stays on there until it comes off by itself! I know that's so bad of me, but my toes are very rarely out in the open so they never get any attention!!

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?
I can do a really quick 5 minute (ish) face for work. But usually I take anywhere from 15-30 minutes if I'm going the full bang!
8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
I do my face first unless I'm doing a really smokey eye look with dark colours. I just feel more comfortable that way. I put on my foundation and concealer then decide how i want my eyes done, do the eyes and then finish my blush bronzer and lipstick off last!

9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
Hahahahaha buy when I need? If only I knew what that was like! I'm such a little makeup hoarder and spender! I will go for everything and anything! I just brought a whole load of barry m polishes just because I could! Oh man. I need to stop.....

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
I don't wear false eyelashes, I don't really need it, I have luckily been blessed with long eyelashes so a good mascara is usually good enough for me! If Ive gone really heavy on the eyes then I might need a pair to balance it out, but I really suck at applying them. Whats the best way? Any tips please?

11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
Nope most of the time I have no makeup on, mostly because I'm too lazy and love to sleep more lately because I'm so tired. But If I wake up early I will try to have a face of makeup. However I never ever leave the house without mascara.
12. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family?
I'm never by myself that much, so I suppose I would say with family.

13. Will you leave the house without makeup?
Yeah all the time. I even go to work somedays with out it on too. I think it tends to be a bit of a beauty blogger no no, because not many people do this or feel comfortable. But I do it all the time!

14. How many high-end products do you have?
Ive never actually counted. I have a few benefit products and one clinique eye cream. But other then that, not alot really. I think I probably have a few more then that but I just cant think, I honestly do more budget and high street. I really only splurge on benefit!!

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?
I just pick what I wear on the day, I don't really plan anything, but then if I like it I usually put it in an OOTD post.

16. How often do you change your handbag?
It depends. My last bag has been changed to a little canvas thing because it happens to be what I threw everything into. That's how I decide on my bags. Whatever has the most amount of stuff I need that day is the bag I will use!!

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
I wake up around 9ish and go to sleep around 11pm. So I get plenty of sleep. I love to sleep in as well if I have a day off work!!

18. How often or when do you workout?
I don't really work out. I walk to work and back every day and sometimes play of the kinect or wii but that's about it really. I'm so unhealthy :(

19. Left handed or right handed?
Right. Even with two lefties for parents!!!

20. How tall are you?
erm about 5 foot 4 or something like that!!

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?
Not really I took french as a gcse and got a c in it, cant believe that still but I probably couldn't make much of a sentence any more.

22. How many pets do you have?
At my parents we have a dog, two cats and a bearded dragon. But in my own place with pawl we have two lovely little chinchillas Jekyll and Hyde ^_^

23. How often are you on Blogger?
I'm on everyday catching up with people even if I'm not writing my own blogs. I'm planning on writing my own blogs 2/3 times a week and just scheduling them all for daily posting.

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
Oh yes! I love when anyone comments on my blog, and other peoples its great feedback and when I'm reading a review I can see what others think about it. It gives me a good idea of whether that review is genuine or just one being written for PR purposes.

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
I have a mental list that I always forget until I see the product again, then its always a case of  'so and so reviewed this and said it was really good maybe I should get it' then I usually do buy it!

26. How did you come up with your blog name?
I didn't really put as much thought into it as I probably should have done, and I would love to have a completely different name but I still like little pretty things. The name just stems for my love of all things little pretty and that are things! Can be anything like cute animals makeup items dinky little vintage necklaces. Its just basically a summary of things I love!

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?
I have a digital kodak camera just one of those £50 ones you can get from argos and stuff. It does its job well and sometimes if I'm honest I use my phone which is a samsung galaxy ace 2.

28. How often do you clean your house?
It gets a deep cleanse every week and we hoover and do the dishes everyday but the really heavy duty like dusting everything and completely gutting the place from top to bottom about once a week.

29. What's your favourite colour?
Blue always blue, and maybe even splashes of grey! Is grey a boring colour choice? But then you get those really brilliant blue/greys and ooooh egg duck blue. I love Blues.....

30. Do you swear?
Sometimes, not a lot. I might swear when I'm having a really bad day but that's about it. I say shit a lot lately :(

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Well right now I'm going to bed, but as your reading this like I said earlier I'm probably having my operation. So at around 4pm Pawl will call and see when he can pick me up and bring me back home. Then I will probably be sat on the sofa feeling sorry for myself!

I hope you enjoyed this and learnt a little bit more about me! If you decide to do this one, please please please link me to it in the comments and I promise to come read it :)

Review - MUA Power Pout in Runway

I purchased this power pout a few weeks ago as I really wanted some more orange toned lip colours in my collection! The shade I got was Runway, from the selection in store it looked like it was the most orange (however there were only two other shades in there and I really didn't know how big the collection is) turns out there is a better option for orange, and I think its called Justify.

However here's my opinion on the Power Pout.

These cropped up around the same time as the revlon lip stains that look like the chubby sticks. To be honest I'm not sure how these companies have managed to release something that looks exactly like them (it my understanding trading standards require 5 differences or at least they do for clothes) but these look pretty much the same! I obviously opted for this as the chubby sticks are a little out of my price range!
These look like a huge lip crayon, you twist the silver bottom to release more product. I first looked at mine and noticed a crack in the actual lip colour, it instantly made me think these were going to be dry, hard to use and a bit like colouring your lips with an over sized lip pencil. I'm glad to say that's not the case. These are so soft and creamy. Not what I was expecting at all! Its easy to apply and lasts a couple of hours before needing to be touched up. These are a bit like a balmy stain for the lips. They apply a soft amount of colour that can be built up. However the was no nourishing value for me. I would rather just have a lip balm on. But for a dash of colour these are very nice.

The colour is a mix between orange and pink. It goes on a nice orange but you can tell there is a lot of pink in, and when it fades, it fades to a pink colour, which really wasn't flattering on me. I would need to constantly re-apply this to avoid that colour as I just didn't like it. However I would really like to try something like this in a deep plumb or raspberry colour, as I don't know if those strong colours would work on me but it would be the perfect way to try them out! At only £3 I think these are a bargain if you don't mind how often you will need to re-apply during the day, but if you don't get chance to do makeup while your working maybe stick to a long lasting lipstick!

Do you like these Power Pouts?

Floral Inspired Nails

Ive seen so many Cath Kidston inspired nail designs recently and I really wanted to give it a go but I'm hopeless at nail art and have no nail art tools.

I used a blue base - Sally Hansen - Himalayan Blue
Polka dots/light petals - Essie - Neo Whimsical
Leaves - Barry M Gelly - Key Lime
Dark Petals - Barry M Gelly - Grapefruit
Top and Base Coat - Miss Sporty
I didn't have a white but the off cream colour worked really well for the polka dot effect on my nails, I used an old pen to achieve the dot size.
I used a pink shade for the flowers by doing four pink spots using a cotton bud, then applying the lighter cream over the top and then again a dab of pink in the middle and I used an old pair of tweezers to do the leaf design! It took a long time but I really loved the end result. I finished it all off with a top coat just so everything would last a bit longer (although sadly the chinchillas have got to one finger and its ruined already!)

I hope you like it and realise you don't need all the expensive tools to be able to make pretty nail designs.

Kitty Tights and Dalmatian Necklace! OOTD

I love a pair of statement tights I saw these on Taobao which is kind of like a Chinese version of Buy It Now Ebay and everything is really cheap. However the down point is you need a partnership company to buy it for you because they only ship inside China. I found one that only charged 8% of the total order for their fees. It wasn't too bad and the company was really great I got everything within a month and they changed my shipping type to make everything cheaper but still quick for me. Anyway onto these tights.

Kitty Tights, I love these the face is so cute on them, and the fit really nice, the skin tone section isn't too glossy like some tights I own and they are really good quality.
I even love the tail detail on the back! I just love them!!
I teamed my outfit with some shorts and a white tank top. Also clashing the whole cat theme with a new Butler and Wilson Dalmatian necklace I got from my mom for my birthday!
I always think a nice fun outfit is good to put a smile on your face and these tights just make me so happy!

Hope you all having a nice day

Life Can Be Really Hard...

Ive been gone for such a long time, I have just had so much going on that blogging was the thing I let go off. I just couldn't cope with everything and keeping up with the blogger world was one stress I didn't need. I'm not sure I want to go into detail right now about what is happening to me, even if it could help someone else. But it really made this last month difficult for me and pawl. I also have an operation next week and I'm so nervous about it, especially as Ive only managed to get the day after my operation off :( minimum wage, and a flat to pay for is no good at times. Too stressful, thankfully my op is not anything huge, I still have to go under but I'm just hoping I will have enough time to rest.

But onto happier things, me and Pawl are thinking of getting a house, because our current landlord has one available, which would be perfect because I'm bored and tired of our small little flat!! Our little chinchillas are here, Jekyll and Hyde (seriously one is so calm the other is a nutter and escaped from the cage the other day and we almost lost him)

Here they are all cute and little!! They love the chew everything especially my fingers and biting off my nail varnish. They make a mess all the time and every time we put in a fresh bowl of food they will throw some of it on the floor! I love them so much still, in the morning the come to the side of the cage as if to say hello, and they do the same at night time too.

I also took a trip to the beach in this nice weather with Pawl to try and take our mind off things as it's been a tough month. We saw some awesome sand sculptures in Weston-Super-Mare and had such a nice day out.

This was one of my favourite sculptures. So I hope everyone is well and you have all enjoyed the sun shine. Also I hope you like the new blog design Ive been working hard on it this weekend and I really like it. It feels much more me.

See you all soon
